What's Involved

Get more months out of your backyard

In this climate, an outdoor room earns its keep by extending the season. Fire features, seating walls, and defined gathering spaces turn a yard you look at into a yard you use — from the first warm evening in April to a fire in late October. Done well, it functions like another room of the house.

  • Fire pits and outdoor fireplaces
  • Seating walls, pillars, and steps
  • Grilling stations and patio dining areas
  • Landscape and path lighting
  • Privacy plantings and screening

Our Approach

How we do it right

A reason to go outside in October

Fire is what turns a three‑month patio into a seven‑month one. It's the single highest‑value addition to most backyards here.

Zoned for how you actually gather

Cooking, dining, and sitting around a fire want different spaces. We lay them out so people aren't tripping over the grill.

Lighting extends the evening

Path and accent lighting makes a space usable after dark and safe to walk — and it's far cheaper to run conduit during the build than after.

Common Questions

Outdoor Living Spaces — the questions we get

Gas or wood‑burning fire pit?

Wood is cheaper to build, gives you real flame and smell, and is what most people picture. Gas is instant, clean, and has no smoke to chase around the patio — but costs more up front and needs a gas line run. Both are great; it comes down to how spontaneous you want it to be.

Can you add this to an existing patio?

Usually yes — seating walls, fire features, and lighting can often be added to a sound existing patio. The catch is the base: if the existing patio is already settling, we'd rather fix that than build on top of it.

What about privacy from neighbors?

Layered plantings, a pergola, or a screening hedge usually solve it more attractively than a fence — and in a lot of yards, faster than you'd expect.
